Frances these are beautiful images…I love all the growth on the wall especially the lichen…
thanks Donna, Frances
So many different sorts of lichen, all beautiful, its amazing what will grow on a stone wall. Love the wheels in your last photo, do you know what they used to be on?
thanks Pauline, so do I, especially when I got home and put the photos on the computer, I didn’t take my glasses on the walk so I was taking photos of blobs :o)
I have no idea what the wheels are from they have been there from before the first time I walked the track 10 years ago, I’ve taken several photos of them over the years, they are widely spaced and I can image there may have been a tool for the land between them, it would be pulled by a tractor or something, Frances
Beautiful post…the photos speak for themselves. I just love stone especially old walls like these.
thanks Bridget, that’s what I thought too so added no words, Frances
I am a sucker for stone walls and it’s one of the best parts of the UK where we’ve visited – the stone walls. Incredible. Your photos are fabulous as usual, Frances. :-)
thanks Bex, Frances
Gorgeous vistas! The beauty of your land always takes my breath away. I have always admired stone walls. The lichens and other plants which prosper there are beautiful and demonstrate there is a plant for every site!
thanks Debs, the beauty of the island and highlands takes my breath away too and sometimes I still have to pinch myself that I now live here and not a built up area down south on the mainland,
the variety of the lichens and mosses here interests me and the detail when you can get in close, I used my ‘new’ camera (I’ve had it nearly a year) I still don’t know how to use it and couldn’t remember how to set closeup or macro photos, I would like to move in closer next time, Frances
Beautiful photos. I think I can feel the fuzziness of the first few rocks. :)
thanks Julie, Frances
Wonderful photos. It’s incredible how much life a stone of all things can support.
thanks Marguerite, Frances
Very pretty. We have very active life on our stone walls right now from all the rain and moisture since last August. I was photographing it the other day.
thanks Carolyn, look forward to seeing some of your photos, Frances
Great shots Frances, I tried to get my head around the operation instructions for my new camera, finally gave up and am satisfied with the auto focus. All that amazing lichen which apparently shows how unpolluted your air is.
thanks Alistair, I use the auto focus too but this camera has a foliage setting and this is what I used to take the photos of the lichen, I think it has shown more detail, I hate that the instructions are on a disc! I know it saves paper and I have saved to my desktop to encourage me, I’ve printed off some relavent bits, I like something I can sit and flick through, Frances
